Brown, Blue, and Yellow make Green...eventually.

From my kitchen window, squinting, I saw them...farmwomen from another era prepping my garden!!! Beyond my wildest dreams!!! All the straw removed, the sleeping earth turned over and aprons full of herb seeds ready for planting....like Christmas morning....all my wishes came true!!! Then I stopped squinting, slapped on the tri-focals and saw my reality....a dachsaund, a schnoodle and a manic spotted cattle dog all digging the bijayzes out of my dormant lawn. Oi.

Mirrors = Me Roars

We have many mirrors at Decoragain...big ol' wooden mirrors of every size - because I love mirrors. I love the way they force us to look. Mirrors shine up any room. Oh and the best, when a mirror on a wall reflects a window of a pretty outdoor vignette. THE BEST.
Some wood frames are painted and some left alone. As much as paint is my 'go-to' solution for anything wooden, the beauty of a mirror is that the reflection always exceeds the edges...so damn the frame...let's look at the picture!

....and......Spring!

Is it a coincidence that the first day of spring is also my 82 year old husband's birthday? I like to think not. Everything suddenly makes sense when spring arrives. It's why we endure, why we mark time. Tomorrow, it's spring - and anything is possible!

Furry Weeds

Today, I was in a garden shop where the owner was complaining about how sore her hands were from cutting and wrapping eighty-five bouquets of pussywillows. People 'round here really like them this time of year. So, while she was blathering on, I took a real close look at the furry little flower wannabes. Sticks with kitten cheeks on them...I get it now. We have some in our backyard, but I also like our side yard furry weeds. Do I dare cut them into bouquets and sell them? Don't know what they are, but I'm sure I, too, could hurt my hands on their strong stems. Not pappas grass or pussywillows...just brown and furry and stubborn. That's all you really need to be to survive.

Time Out in Torrential Toronto

My best friend since grade 2, Lynn, and I decided to hit that rain-soaked lonesome highway, head west, and howl at the moon in the Big Smoke. Sort of a spring break for old dolls.
One night there and we were exhausted.
On our way out of the hotel for dinner, after commenting that there is comfort in being old and invisible, Lynn yells over her shoulder to the front desk clerk, 'If we bring a couple of guys back, do we have to sign them in?' Then she laughed. Then she snorted. So much for invisible.

French Blue for Two

The anticipation of stepping onto soft ground and wet mud is grabbing even the surliest locals. We're all walking just a little lighter. Messy feet. It's the best time of year.....on the cusp....waiting to tumble headlong into the warmth.
A table for two positioned perfectly for toe wriggling.

Looks a little Wooden...

...but on an outdoor table or it's big brother - a full size driftwood log - running the length of a deck - rustic, wonderfully water worn wooden tea light holders. Peeking over it's shoulder, a buttery finished milking stool, sanded to within an inch of it's barkless hide by my brother. And, of course, my thyme-filled ottoman counting County visitors as they barrel on by.

Thyme for a Tree

Is it a table, an herb holder, a footstool, or just a really finely sanded tree stump? Once it was just a tree. Some things are so perfectly repurposed, they defy definition.

I love this herb hugging table ottoman, and it is not for sale.

A Lick of Paint Equals Early Spring

In Provence, colour is everywhere. No waiting for better days, just a quick fix with a paintbrush. How else could a country of old stuff be so breathtaking. This photo is taken from Corey Amaro's Tongue in Cheek blog. It just feels good!
