Dog Day Afternoon

What's a weiner dog to do? The house is for sale, This White Shed may be moving....can a dachshund abandonment be far behind? Naaahhhhh, that's one thing that's certain...once a wily weiner dog weedles his way into your life, you're a bit stuck.

So this guy...

stops by today and asks if he can buy our white birdcage for $5...Rob, who isn't known for his smiley countenance, says, 'no, it's $20'....then the guy comes back in half an hour and offers $10....again Rob says 'no, it's $20'. The same scenario happened with my sunflower drop leaf table...we were visited by a similar low balling drop in, and by morning the table was taken from the front yard.
Wondering if we'll be birdcageless by tomorrow. Guess that's the upside of This White Shed theft....if someone likes our gussied up used stuff enough to steal it...well, that's a successful day. Sheesh.

Snappy!!!

Why does my greed extend to snapdragons? A bed FULL of them is just so abundantly satisfying, dontcha' think?

Looking Over....

Wandering from room to room, taking photos for our real esate ad, fixated on how others will see the views. Every window boasts something beautiful beyond...This is my favourite - the studio window - I sit at my computer amongst paint and projects for This White Shed, looking past the little seating area to the deck that suits long chats and sleeping cats. My view on the view stays right in place, even if we don't.

Blink

On an old sitcom, an elderly gentleman is waltzing with a thirty-ish woman and he says, 'For so many years, time meanders along and then it changes. The speed with which one gets from thirty to eighty is no longer than the time between lunch and dinner.'

Old Age Unfolds

My husband is considerably older than me, so we've always known our relationship held different demands than same age matchings...and...here we go...Rob now has early dimentia and Parkinsons, which, frankly explains a lot to both of us. The good news is there are medications to slow down both processes...and as our dr. said, 'If you live long enough, you'll get all the diseases'...something quirky and darkly optimistic about that. Challenges are ahead, but we've got lots of love, idiot pets, good friends and... our white shed!

Pig-a-ma-jig

And here he is up close. This guy has been laughing since 2002, and keeps the belly laughs burbling whenever we look at him. He's so agile. Shouldn't everyone have something to laugh about? Do you?

When Pigs Fly

Hung up my paint apron, then spied a swinging pig I once gave to my mom when she was ill. As the apron dries, the pig flies!!! Happy summer!

Rosemaritaville Has Not Left The Building!

She's been primped and ready to go for a couple of weeks now, and I watch the onlookers examining her. They walk all around her, sit on one side, then the other, but ulitmately leave her as they found her....much like an overdressed chippy on a bar stool. I anticipate the moment her rightful owner finds her. They will be smart, soulful, and sit right in the centre with arms outstretched!

Red

There is always a colour we gravitate towards. Green is popular for it's calming qualities and it's many shades...blue for much the same reason, but no matter how hard I try to veer to the understated and muted tones, I always grab red!!! Definite, purposeful, uplifting, constant red. If I liked something on sight, I'll always like it better when it's red. Yellow ranks a close second for it's vibrancy I think. What's your 'go to' colour? The one that drags you across a crowded room and hugs you till you pop?

Tree Art

Ever found something, dusted it off, shined it up and then couldn't figure out where to hang it? I think that's why we have trees!

Through Your Looking Glass

When I sit and write or blog or facebook, this is my outdoor perspective. Straight ahead of where I am, is this pretty window on the world. Rain and snow don't make it any worse...it's always pretty and, for whatever reason, I feel protected by it. Even though I don't smoke, I always leave the cut glass ashtray there, cuz someone might stop by, and that adds a whole other dimension to how I regard this tranquil spot. Do you think this makes a difference in what you think or write? The view that meets your eyes when they wander from the page? What's yours?

Glass with Sass!

If you've ever been to The Red Barns just east of Picton, you know what wondrous treasures can be found. The students and the artists display their hand blown vases, dishes, glasses and jewellery in many areas of the property...each one is original and magnificent! These handblown glass pendants are from The Red Barns...a sort of appetizer tray, if you will. I wear one of them often and frequently find myself soothed by it's smoothness. So pretty. So creative. ...and just $10 each at This White Shed!

Shabby Light

Clay candle holders dressed in a little summer whitewash - sort of softens the snarl on those menacing lion heads...beautiful with a soft flame on a painted summer table graced by a huge bowl of strawberries. Forgive me, my mouth is full....of the County's best STRAWBERRIES!!!! Candle holders - $30/pair.

...and now some Ahhhht....

This painting just arrived to This White Shed. It's an original oil by a lady who went by the name of Gerda. She lived in downtown Montreal and took in ladies of the night, teaching them how to express themselves through crafts....seriously! This painting is called 'Springtime', and it's priced at $175.

Shine On Little Night Table!

From rags to riches...This little gem didn't stand a chance of seeing another John Patterson mystery or scented bouquet - the night stand had said it's last prayer UNTIL we dressed it up with gold polka dots and outfitted it's missing handle area with an out-of-use necklace. A little glitz and glam will put a smile on even the most tired of faces.

The Camera Doesn't Lie!

Me and my shed...both wishing we were different sizes, but we're working it!!!
