A-OOOOOO-ga!!!!

It's great to have friends in fun places!!! Lorre and Bill borrowed Bill's dad's Model T Ford and off we went. Over the hills and through the dales of Prince Edward County, ever mindful that we were going too slow, emitting way too many fumes, and having the time of our lives! You can take the girls out of the women but you can't take the party girls out of the rumble seat!

Last Call For Flip Flops!

The shed opens its' doors today, while a little bit of wind catches the chimes. Nothing damp or hot going on in Prince Edward County today....just fresh air and flowers opening up to the pleasing breezes. Funky flip flops still have their own little corner of the shop, and WOW, do they look good with a fresh pedicure!
While I was enjoying my first of the season the other day, the pedicurist said, 'You do your own nails?'. Swelling with pride, I asserted that yes I did do my own toenails. 'Bad job', said she. The flip flops make the same point...what a difference!!!...coral nails, bit of a tan, and bejewelled feet. So summer!!!

Our New Front Yard?

We're down to the final bits on purchasing the new little house on the Trent. As I sit on it's deck wondering how to make everything fit into such a small place, I find myself mourning the loss of our schoolhouse. Woe is me - this is the first time I've not been excited about buying/selling a house.
I spy Rob at the shoreline. With Parkinson's disease on his horizon, Rob's only concern is where his dock will line up and if he can wrestle the swans from the lady next door who feeds them corn daily. "I'll use better stuff", says he.
My melancholy moves aside....slowly.
With thirty years between us, we will meet in the middle. Simple.

A Not Quite Summer Kind of Day

Sometimes Mother Nature tries out her next season before introducing it completely. That's what today feels like. All is green, the air is warm but there are hints of fall falling....a few red leaves in the trees, humidity gone. Before I pick up my mug of coffee and head outside to This White Shed, it may be wise to trade in my sunscreen for a cardigan...or... I'll just bound out there in my moo moo, flog my sundresses and bright yellow furniture, while spending the day in total and utter denial!

Winning by a Nose!

I have to submit a bio and photo of myself to a magazine, so I started with some self-portraits...this being the first. I had no idea my nose had grown so much. Ears and nose they say. Both keep growing and growing and growing long after everything else has stopped.
Luckily, my daughter Laura stopped by and took a better shot.
Photos are so much better in our head aren't they?

Doo-B-Doo-B-Doo-locks

Slipping next door yesterday for a visit with my dog pal, Doobie, I had to stop for a welcome respite. Doobie's not everyone's idea of a housepet. In fact, many would think she belongs in a horse stall, but she isn't in a barn or a dog house or a kennel. This is Doobie's living room. It's comfy cozy and fits juuuuuust right.

How to Top a Linen Cloth....

Can't do it! No matter what the occasion or what the meal, a linen table cloth feels the best. Maybe even makes food taste better, just like bone china does for tea.

This Little Light of Mine

One is from the lobby of the Royal York and the other from a furniture store in Toronto....both hold their own charm wouldn't you say? Nothing like a little time in the Big Smoke to help glue one's head back together. Shopping, eating, walking and sleeping in a super cushy bed...that's all it took. Okay real estate circus - hit me - I'm recharged and ready!!!
But a pillow sure would be nice.

This journey through real estate is one fraught with moguls, pitfalls, slippery slopes and insurmountable obstacles, but when the reward is the view shown here, it keeps us moving ahead. At this point we have an offer on our schoolhouse and we're bidding on the view shown here. If all goes well, we'll be trading one beautiful spot for another (with a smaller pawprint)...'cept at this one, This White Shed will be dockside. What an adventure! Aye aye!!!

With a Little Unluck...

This White Shed was quite busy yesterday! Sundresses and birch tree art for everyone!!! We also have an offer expected on our house tomorrow. Oy. Worst fear realized - the shop takes off and the house sells at the same time. Hate to wish for UN-success but it sure would make upcoming decisions a lot easier. Good thing white sheds are easy to come by. location, location, location.... On we go...

Each one of these men carved amazing radio careers and I'm lucky enough to know them all...
They worked with my mom and dad...they worked with me....and they are the best of the best. You may know their voices, but not their faces, because they are original radioheads - booming throughout Ontario before video killed the radio star.
I like 'em.
