Looking at Life through Rose Coloured Geraniums

This is our first spring/summer in our wee river abode, and it's become abundantly clear that very little floral landscaping is required. The fact that the window box matches the tree is as contrived as I will allow. The lush green grass and trees....the water dancing with wildlife - far better than I can buy in a box at a garden centre. The other side of the house though...is garden centre ready. We've already packed in new emerald cedars, found some long forgotten peony bushes, sorted the lavender and we just keep layer and layering. Flowers at the front, river at the back. Picture perfect.

So this guy...

stops by today and asks if he can buy our white birdcage for $5...Rob, who isn't known for his smiley countenance, says, 'no, it's $20'....then the guy comes back in half an hour and offers $10....again Rob says 'no, it's $20'. The same scenario happened with my sunflower drop leaf table...we were visited by a similar low balling drop in, and by morning the table was taken from the front yard.
Wondering if we'll be birdcageless by tomorrow. Guess that's the upside of This White Shed theft....if someone likes our gussied up used stuff enough to steal it...well, that's a successful day. Sheesh.
